I became a filmaker because I like to observe how people act, especially when they act together.  I see them dancing around one another, more or less unaware that it is a dance they're doing.  I make the films so they can see themselves dancing in the movies of their own making.  And I keep hoping Self-consciousness will lead to Mindfulness. VISUAL FILMMAKING

 

Visual filmmaking differs from predominantly narrative film forms, but is most comparable to music, painting & poetry. And there are almost as many styles of visual filmmaking as there are of those allied arts. Visual experience relies on the whole sensorium of color, image, motion, sound and time rather than representational imagery and dialogue, and appeals to the emotional/intuitive brain rather than the intellectual/rational brain.  Read more...
